The Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors (IDEA) petitions the DECC to provide representation for Energy Assessors on the Green Deal Fora.
Background:
The DECC has established four fora to provide input to the framework for the “Green Deal” implementation and operation.
Within the four groups established are stakeholders representing Community Interest, Building Construction & Design, Heating, Lighting, Glazing, Insulation companies, Property sales/ Letting, Local Authority and ‘training providers’.
There is NO representation from the most significant single “Stakeholder” group around which this strategy is based – the Energy Assessor.
DECC answer to the question of representation included the statement that:
“We recognised the need to understand the needs and opportunities within the energy assessor industry and the Property and Energy Professionals Association have been taking part in the Forum.”
IDEA contacted PEPA to ask how many of their members were DEA’s/HI’s/NDEA’s
PEPA’s response was as follows:
“PEPA is a trade body which represents business that is engaged in the provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs) with members of the Association being companies rather than individuals.”
PEPA are therefore NOT representing the interests of Energy Assessors
We petition the DECC to make available representation from our industry as we believe that we the Energy Assessors of all qualifications are “Key Stakeholders” in the decision making process and our views MUST be given audience within the fora.
