Fighting for The Ottawa Sports Park and Light Rail

Located just south of the Ottawa Airport on the north-south (light rail transit) LRT corridor, the proposed $35 million Ottawa Sports Park (OSP) has been in planning for over five years.
With a direct link to the proposed expansion of the light rail O-Train it is boldly designed to be the worlds largest community soccer facility (30 FIFA sized fields), for the worlds largest soccer and other events.
20 minutes by LRT from Ottawas core, there is no other location on the entire 29.4 km north-south LRT line can deliver 30 transit-served sportsfields, an outdoor centre for skiing, snow boarding, tobogganing, hockey and direct link to greenbelt trails.
For five years the OSP proponents have been openly working with stakeholders such as the soccer and sports groups, environmental groups, community groups and other members of the public as well as the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa International Airport, but City Council and the Ottawa Airport Authority have turned their backs on an open study of the benefits of this signature project, a project that that will protect valuable greenspace and enhance the health and quality of life for residents of, and visitors to Ottawa.
OSPs business plan includes a park and ride and station to help increase LRT riders and revenue, plus offer LRT savings to the City of at least $5 million saving for taxpayers.
Why didn'tt City Council support the OSP?
THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR!
Make SOCCER and Ottawa's Light Rail project an ELECTION ISSUE!
By signing this petition I am showing my support for delaying the decision for Ottawa's Light Rail Project. This delay is necessary to allow for a complete investigation into the value of the currently proposed system and the comparative economic, social and environmental benefits of the Ottawa Sports Park (OSP) in comparison to the City of Ottawa's proposed rail yard alternative at the same location.
Because the City of Ottawa's own study shows a 200 sportsfield deficit, I am also indicating my support to make soccer and the OSP an election issue.
