We believe that the fire code adopted by Metro Nashville/Davidson County in April 2007 should be changed because in its current form it will cause hundreds of people with disabilities to become homeless. The fire code in its current form is discriminatory and violates the Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

We call upon decision makers of Nashville/Davidson County to correct the fire code in order to prevent the closure of dozens of homes for people with disabilities throughout the metro area.
