L’Associazione Studentesca BEST propone all'Università Bocconi a partire dall’A.A. 2013/2014 l'apertura di un corso opzionale in laurea specialistica, tenuto in lingua inglese, che tratti del tema del genere in un'ottica multidisciplinare. Proposta di syllabus: Main Topics - Introduction - Gender and Demography - Gender and Sociology - Gender and the Labour Market - Gender and Public Policies - Gender and Politics Detailed description - Introduction Main statistics and indicators used in gender studies; the role of women in the economy and the society; the importance of the gender revolution and womenomics. - Gender and Demography The fertility transition: why, when and how does fertility decline from high to low level, and how it impacts on women conditions. The family and household transition: changes in family structures in the last century, why and how. - Gender and Sociology The origin of gender roles; Gender and culture. - Gender and the Labour Market - Gender labour supply and participation. Theories of discrimination in the labour market: statistical discrimination, taste based discrimination, occupational crowding. Econometrics of wage differentials. - Gender and Public Policies Welfare and Institutions. The role of family policies. Fiscal policies, part time work, parental leave, and subsidized childcare. Affirmative action policies. - Gender and Politics Gender and voting; the consequences of women enfranchisement; the relationship with public spending; the female political leadership.
