WE, THE RESIDENTS OF HAIDA GWAII, ARE CONCERNED THAT THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT AND THE COUNCIL OF HAIDA NATION ARE NEGOTIATING AND PROPOSING TO IMPLEMENT A LAND USE PLAN BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AND IN SECRECY.

We the undersigned hereby petition our local elected representatives and the BC Provincial Government and its Ministers and representatives to cease any further implementation of the proposed Strategic Land Use Plan for Haida Gwaii and any allocation of resources based on this proposed plan until;

1- Full disclosure of all the facts are made. - All residents, stakeholders and affected businesses must be provided with all the facts and explanations related to the proposed land use plan and new resource allocation or re-allocation based on it.

2- Full and meaningful public review and consultation are achieved. - All concerned residents, affected stakeholders and businesses of Haida Gwaii must be given the opportunity for democratic process.

3- The land use decision must be by Local Referendum. - A decision of this much importance affecting residents, stakeholders and businesses of Haida Gwaii must be by local public referendum.
