Pauanui Ratepayers are paying 58% of the local Wards budgets, subsidising Tairua by up to $400,000 per year to a varying extent, this situation has existed since the ‘birth’ of Pauanui. Council is doing a good job on a regional basis, but more can be achieved within our Community through the proposed Empowerment model, which will allow us to have more input/say on how our money is spent. However to ensure this model works we need to split the local budgets.
Why should we pay for Tairua’s proposed $4 Million Sports Complex?
We the undersigned support:
• Separation of local rates i.e. Rates collected from Pauanui are spent in Pauanui
• The savings achieved to be spent on the preservation of Pauanui’s Recreational and Community Assets
• Community Empowerment i.e. greater community input into how Council spends our rates in the area.
