We, the undersigned, do hereby request the Government of Canada to keep the Baymaud ship in Canada by denying all requests for export permits.
This ship sank in the bay of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut in 1930 and has remained in the same place ever since. The ship was formerly called "Maud" and was one that Roald Amundsen used to sail the Northwest Passage. The ship was sold in 1926 to the Hudson's Bay Company of Canada and was renamed the "Baymaud." She was used as a floating warehouse for HBC and later as the first radio station to broadcast from the Arctic to what is now CBC.
