Lets have a cross party approach to CHILD POVERTY

John Key has twice refused to work with other parties in government to remedy our issues around child poverty. This is not a petition aimed at discrediting the national party or John Key. Child poverty is too important to politicise. Whatever party you vote for, we live in a country where the end results of childhood deprivation are far too common. We see it in the size of our prison poplulations, the rates of illiteracy, the amount of people needing healthcare for illnesses that are non existent in other oecd countries. All of these things are incredibly expensive compared with doing the right thing in the first place. A bi-partisan approach to dealing with child poverty will ensure that no single party can manipulate the issue for politcal gain. A cross party consensus will also protect gains should there be a change in government at election time. We could see a huge amount of these problems massively reduced in the space of a generation, all we need is the will and our entire elected government working together to get it done.
