Make Ontario Trillium Benefit Monthly Payments OPTIONAL

Dear Government Of Ontario - You made a decision, without consulting those who were affected.  You changed the way Ontarians receive their income taxes.  When a backlash ensued, you promised you would change it back.  However, one year later, it still hasn’t been changed.

Do you REALLY think $20 for a single person or maybe $70 for a ‘family’ each month is enough to help “offset” bills?   Who are YOU – other than overpaid and way underworked – to decide that we want our taxes paid in such a manner, we are adults, and we can decide when and what to do with our money.

We the residents of Ontario hereby demand that we get a choice – do we want the monthly payments, or do we want one lump sum.  Make this an option when we file taxes.

It is our money, and should be our choice.  Dwight Duncan promised he would look into this, after the backlash in 2012, but he didn’t.  We now demand he be held accountable for ruining the “tax return season” for millions of Ontarians – single people, people with families, old people – who depended on the lump sum to pay off credit cards, buy a ‘luxury’ item like a computer or TV for their family, that they could only afford upon receipt of their taxes.
