This petition is in support of Coach Mike Haynes. On Saturday, April 22, 2006, he was relieved of his head-coaching job at Beaver Country Day School. Not only was his firing a complete shock to the community and everybody whose life he has touched, it was unprofessional and completely unwarranted. During his 8 years as Beavers head coach, Mike guided his teams to 6 Eastern Independent League Championships and 4 New England Championships. He has been named NSCAA coach of the year and has coached two players to All-American accolades. For a decade Mike has been the face of Beaver athletics, in the process making the Beaver name synonymous with good sportsmanship and winning. Yet, beyond his glorious won/loss record, Mike has had a profound impact on every player that he has ever coached. He was and is everything that Beaver should stand for. The undersigned are players, managers, parents, and peers that Mike has been undeniably loyal to. To those below, Mike has been a second father and a role model. He has been a shoulder to cry on and a source of inspiration. He has extended himself and helped the undersigned without wanting anything in return. Mike Haynes is a great coach and an even better man. Whatever the reason for his abrupt firing, it is not good enough. This petition is in support of our Coach because he deserves better than this.
