The British Columbia Liberal government's proposed HST tax is a tax grab that will affect consumers in all sorts of ways.
Premier Gordon Campbell says this is the single biggest thing his government can do to improve B.C.'s economy.
What he does not say that this will come at the expense of taxpayers. It is nothing but a tax grab and what is most galling about it is that the government during the recent election campaign made it clear it was not interested in any kind of HST tax.
But now that the government has been re-elected it has gone back on its word.
So let's show Premier Campbell that British Columbians will not take it anymore.
The proposed tax is set to come into force next July 1. There is one year left to show this government the HST tax in B.C. is a non starter.
The tax will take $1.9 billion out of the pocketbooks of British Columbians through this new tax.
This is not about politics. It is about holding politicians accountable and not letting them get away with doing something they indicated they wouldn't.
It happens too often. Now is the time to stop it and send the Premier a clear cut message - no HST in B.C.
