The building of these houses will not only result in the population exceeding the cap of 100,000 but also mean that an industry will need to exist for all the extra people.
In a time of high unemployment on the Island, there is a great risk in having an increased population and, as the industry will probably be Finance, Jersey will steadily become an offshore centre for UK businesses rather than its own nation - likely to result in a loss of tourism and not a place of sufficent self-sufficiency to withstand future economic dilemas.
Locals not interested in an increasingly finance-orientated world might not be so keen to come home and then what will be left? The remnants of a place which once had its own, unique, local identity.
This may not work, but Jersey is my home, it's my Isle and I'm going to fight! So please, consider the impact of this proposal for 4,000 new homes on Jersey.
