The results of the recent Presidential election have awoken a need for reevaluating associations. It would appear that the Northeastern states are more politically aligned with the social values of their Northern neighbor Canada than they are with the Midwestern and Southern states. New York City in particular embraces the social programs (universal healthcare, affordable education, gay civil unions), racial/religious diversity and inclusivity of Canada. With this in mind we propose that New York City begin negotiations to become Canada's eleventh province. We invite the States of New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia to join us in this move to the North. And we would be more than happy to open the invitation to the other "blue" states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon, Illinois, California, Washington and Hawaii.
