Open Shuhada Street

Shuhada Street was once the main street in Hebron. However, since the Baruch Goldstein massacre in 1994, Palestinian access to the street has been blocked and remains so until today. Consequently, the once thriving commerce and community life on the street has disappeared. Palestinian shops have gone out of business or closed by military order. Many people living on the street have had to move or suffer the great inconvenience of climbing over neighbors' roofs to enter or exit their homes.
The closure of Shuhada Street has effectively turned Hebron's center into a ghost town and created an unbearable situation for the Palestinians struggling to live in the city. Furthermore, the closure of the street is in violation of international law.
I join with citizens around the world to call on the Israeli goverment to open Shuhada Street and bring life and dignity back to the city of Hebron!
