Petition For Change on the Green Party of LA County Council

As a member of the Green Party registered in Los Angeles County, I am troubled by the divisiveness plaguing the newly elected LA County Council. As a constituent of the LA County Council, I urge all County Council members to practice and implement Green values during and outside council meetings, including, but not limited to:

1. Setting aside past differences, no matter how contentious they may be;
2. Trusting fellow council members, not questioning their motives;
3. Respecting the opinions and suggestions of fellow council members;
4. Accepting personal responsibility for their actions;
5. Working towards consensus on all decisions, calling for votes only when absolutely necessary;
6. Committing to grassroots democracy by empowering all LA County Greens, not attempting to centralize power in the hands of a few council members;
7. Publicizing widely the date, time and location of County Council meetings to encourage participation of individual Greens registered in LA County;
8. Making a significant attempt to seek out and appoint new council members to fill the current vacancies on the County Council;
9. Adhering to the LA County By-Laws, dutifully amending them when necessary to clarify confusing matters;
10. Striving to be a model of Green Party values while fulfilling their duties as an elected county official.
