Petition for the University of Toronto to Go Bottled Water Free

Given that bottled water consumption involves serious health,
environmental, and social consequences, and
Given that water is an internationally recognized human right that
should be publicly available for all, and
Given that Toronto is home to some of the cleanest, safest tap water
in the world,
We call on the University of Toronto to end the sale and distribution
of bottled water on our campus. The University should establish a
timeline for phasing out bottled water, and this timeline should be
established no later than March 22, 2011, in honour of World Water
Day.
Such a resolution must also include a commitment to upgrade or install
new public water facilities where buildings are lacking.

Water should not be treated as a commodity that can be bought and sold, it should be easily accessible and available to everyone equally. This includes stopping the sale and distribution of bottle water.
