A recent interview of senatorial candidates for the May 2013 Philippine elections, Mrs. Cynthia Villar defended her stand on keeping schools of nursing despite the low-quality education these institutions provide. Mrs. Villar also said that the owners of the schools have already spent a good amount of money for investment; thus, the quality of education does not really matter as NURSES 'ay hindi naman kailangang magaling dahil ang gusto lang naman ng mga nurses natin ay maging ROOM NURSE lamang sa abroad, yung nag-aalaga lang.'
This is an insult to all nursing professionals and reflect that Mrs. Villar does not value the community which contributes to the economy of the country through global remittance and tourism. We do not need another senator that undermines the profession of their people.
