Please can we have an even academic load in our senior year EGS

This change will only be reflected in the handbook we get next year when it will be too late to do something.
There are two ways this could adversely affect you:
(1) Uneven academic load
For example, if you are majoring in EGS and are doing the first semester "Environmental Analysis (EGS3013F)" course both your senior year subjects happen simultaneously.
Add to this another major or other subjects from other departments and you will likely end up with 3 subjects in 1st semester and 1 subject in the 2nd semester - not a situation any student advisor would recommend for your senior year.
(2) Timetable clashes
While EGS have made sure their own courses do not clash lecture periods or practical days, it is highly likely that subjects from other departments in the 1st semester will clash. Best check this yourself.
Schedules for EGS courses for 2009:
EGS3013F Environmental Analysis: lectures in 3rd period, practicals tuesdays
EGS3014(F) Environmental Change: lectures in 5th period, practicals thursdays
I believe other EGS courses remain as per the 2008 science faculty handbook.
If you are disadvantaged by these changes please add your academic details to the list below so we can let EGS know how many people are affected.
If enough people are disadvantaged, the aim is to get EGS to return to the schedule advertised to us in our 1st and 2nd years at UCT.
