Point closure of North Avenue

We the undersigned (residents of North Avenue, Westfield View and the right side of Westfield Grove) hereby affirm that we would like North Avenue to be closed to through traffic by the introduction of a point closure.

The narrowness of the road and low lying and narrow pavement make it unsuitable for the amount and speed of traffic using it. We believe it is unsafe for pedestrians, which is evidenced by damage to the curbs (caused by cars having to mount them when passing oncoming traffic) and the bollard at the bottom of the road having to be frequently replaced after being hit by cars.

We feel the road presents an unacceptable danger for local residents. We are aware that the council is currently reviewing the road system in the area under the north Wakefield gateway proposal. We request that the previously planned instalment of a point closure at North Avenue is considered in conjunction with these plans.
