Prohibit Persons Holding Dual Citizenship From Serving in the Government of the United States of America

WHEREAS several individuals who have held, or now hold, dual citizenship, now serve, or have served, in elected office and/or appointed/advisory positions in the government of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS it is undesirable that any person hold citizenship in any country other than the United States of America while serving in elected office and/or appointed/advisory positions in the government of the United States of America;

The following Amendment is proposed to the Constitution of the United States of America:

No person shall hold citizenship in any country other than the United States of America while serving in any elected office, or appointed or advisory position to such office, of the the United States of America, nor shall any person have held citizenship in any country other than the United States of America for ten (10) years prior to serving in any elected office, or appointed or advisory position to such office, of the the United States of America.
