We the undersigned, implore the government of Egypt to put a stop to the persecutionof the 53 Gay Egyptian Men who are imprisoned and grant them their freedom. There isno law in Egypt that calls for the arrest of homosexuals and requires homosexuals to be imprisoned. These men are being charged with crimes against religious beliefs, which is an abomination of their basic human rights. We see this as horrendous treatment of people who have suffered severely solely because of their sexuality. Egypt's government officials must set in on the behalf of these men and issue an order torelease these men immediately. The severe abuse of a persons human rights should not bepermitted solely based on a person or persons, religious or political beliefs. The international community and many human rights organizations have condemned suchviolations of human rights. We call on you to not allow this travesty to continue and to dowhat is right and just by freeing these men now.
