The in-theater effects that were originally used in Captain EO were much more spectacular than the effects that are used in todays presentation. The original in-theater effects extended into the audience and made the show a very different and unique experience.
Some of the major in-theater effects that did not return to Captain EO were: Smoke, Shooting Lasers and the amazing (2-D to 3-D) Fiber Optic Star Field Ceiling (which opened the show). The Star Field was the most awesome in-theater effect ever used in Captain EO, and it got a huge reaction from the audience, Ooo and Awe.
