We the undersigned registered voters and residents of Spring Hill and Thompsons Station, in order to encourage children to walk and bike to school and facilitate their safety in so doing, hereby petition for the implementation and/or construction of safe routes to school for children attending Spring Station Middle School. Your petitioners respectfully submit the absence of crosswalks and a 20 mph school speed zone on Buckner Lane is not only discouraging children to walk or bike to school but, more importantly, is placing the students of Spring Station Middle School in danger when arriving and departing from school. Your petitioners request that a crosswalk/crossing signal and 20 mph school speed zone be placed on Buckner Lane to ensure the safety of students and to improve their physical condition by facilitating a safe route to walk and bike to school.
