We the undersigned call for Coleraine Borough Council to retain the lifeguard service on all beaches in the area during the summer period. We firmly believe that without the provision of properly trained and equipped lifeguards to supervise swimmers, to advise beach users of possible hazards, to provide first aid and immediate assistance should swimmers get into difficulties, then fatalities are inevitable. We believe that CBC has a duty of care to all citizens of the borough, young and old and to the many visitors who come here for the beautiful beaches, to ensure their trip to the seaside is a safe one.
We would like a firm commitment from Coleraine Borough Council that the beach lifeguard service will be retained now and into the future.
