Moving Schenley threatens to destroy what makes it work. Tradition, location, and building quality all contribute to the delicate balance that sustains this community of students, educators, and parents. The stately building, though old, is in sound condition, and like every other older building, can be updated.
Based on the above AND the fact that SHS is the only HIGH SCHOOL included in the Phase 1 proposal, WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT YOU REMOVE SCHENLEY HIGH SCHOOL from the "Right-Sizing" PERFORMANCE-based school closure plan before the board votes on the plan in February 2006. The future of Schenley High School can then be evaluated (along with all other City of Pittsburgh high schools) at a later time.
