I'm sure it has come to everyone's attention that several local broadcasting companies have decided to cancel Thursday, November 11th, 2004's showing of "Saving Private Ryan". Figures are sketchy at this time but as many as 20 companies may have opted out of the showing. The fact that this film was not gratuitous in any manor and that it's content is purely for historical accuracy has many people people wondering, "Why?". The problem is with the FCC and their lack of guidelines for broadcasting companies to follow. That is what this petition is about. It's to inform the FCC that they need more definitive guidelines to follow. Guidelines that define a difference between gratuitous material and historical material. It may be too late to do anything about Thursday night's airing of "Saving Private Ryan", but with your signiture we can help persuade the FCC to change the rules for future airings of historical material. If you did not agree with what happened on Thursday in some areas (and what may happen in the future) then please sign this petition to make aware that a change is needed in the FCC's policy.
