To: Senator Mark Udall, Senator Micheal Bennet, Representative John Salazar. We, the people of the Southern Colorado Tea Party and other concerned Colorado citizens, find that Senate bill S510 and House bill HR2749 through the deception of "food safety" will force the production of our food supply into a monopoly of factory farms and giant agribusinesses which are the greatest source of food bourne illness and which will become our only food source. We find that these bills violate the rights of the people in our local farms, ranches, dairies, food processors, and farmers markets to make their own decisions about raising and harvesting crops and livestock, processing them, and providing those products to themselves and to the people, their customers in the markets of their choice. We find that these bills will place our local farms, ranches, dairies, food processors, and their customers under the bureaucratic dictatorship of a "Food Safety Administation" that will be able to take away the most sacred and inviolable property of American citizens, "their labor and the fruits thereof". We find that Congress has no Constitutional authority to pass a law to force American citizens into submission to a government imposed "food supply" system. We ask you for redress of these grievances by ending your support of these deceitful "food safety" bills, by working on behalf of your fellow Colorado citizens against the destruction of our local farms, ranches, dairies, food processors, and farmers markets, and by responding in a timely manner to the issues stated in this petition.
