As a student, I feel that the code of conduct violates my rights as an American citizen. I go to school to get an education and what I wear, how I fix or color my hair has nothing to do with my education. In my opinion, the public schools of this country need to focus more on the real issues, such as the quality education we are receiving. Also, I dont know about other schools, but at the one I attend, violence and drugs are also a problem, but instead my school is too busy paying attention to what we wear. They still cant figure out why we have such low state test scores. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what the real issues are. Although I am a teen, I still know my rights and will no longer put up with it. The founding fathers of this country stated Congress shall make no law If congress cant make a law violating the Bill of Rights then what makes some school board think they can? Just because we are teens doesnt mean we dont have rights. And although my organization is very small, please sign and pass on this petition so that maybe we can change things for the better. Also please join SAVOR here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stop-violation-of-rights/
