The real issue at stake with Hone Harawira clash and his Maori Party Colleagues is Pa Maori v’s Corporate Maori. The corporatisation of Maori by previous Government has created self anointed, self appointed Iwi Leaders Forum who not only mimi in the ear of the Crown but is acceptable to some within the Maori Party for their own gain and nothing is filtered down to Pa Maori, who up hold Ahi ka in the communities of Tikanga, Kawa and Manaakitanga of our Tupuna. Within Hone Harawira the fire still burns, “He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!” What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!, to pa mäori it is Whänau, Hapu Iwi, not Self, Wallet, Self within the corporate structures. What real gains have Pa Maori received from the settlement of their Fisheries, their Forests and Treaty Grievances’??? As Sir Taihakurel Dune, said at the Judicial Conference, Te Wananga o Raukawa, 14 December 2010; "I was a Maori Land Court Judge when the draft of what would become the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975 was presented to the Maori Land Court judges in Rotorua in August 1974, by the then Minister, Hon Matiu Rata, and his advisors. It is an indictment of our English legal tradition that notwithstanding 135 years of its application in New Zealand there was (and still is) no provision for the recognition of whänau, hapu and Iwi as inherent juristic entities capable of recognition in law. The question then was how these bodies might bring claims under the proposed Act when legally they did not exist. (this was in the days before the Rünanga were re-invented using the fiction of trusts and incorporated societies). Each possibility had its own weaknesses and eventually it was decided that 'any Maori' could file a claim, but on behalf of a Maori group, with the full expectation that the Tribunal, being staffed by Judges of the Maori Land Court with a presumed understanding of Maori culture, would know that the 'any Maori' were mere conduits for the true beneficiaries, the affected whänau, hapu and iwi. It is extraordinary to see now, that in some Instances the 'any Maori' have been elevated to a high status within the tribe, through recognition by the Tribunal, even although they have not been elected to a position within the democratic institutions of the tribe, simply because they have filed a claim and obtained legal aid". The only point Sir Taihakurel Dune failed to recognise are those “re-invented Rünanga’s” are the very Corporate Structures destroying Maori today with Government Contracts and Funding where 85% of the putea is used on their own self maintenance and 15% on service delivery. Therefore we seek your support for Hone Harawira in respect of returning the Maori Party back to the Kaupapa “He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!”
