Major General Mixon, we the undersigned, citizens of the United States, of all political persuasions, both for and against the war in Iraq, are concerned that our soldiers who are asked to do our bidding there, are being made into political pawns by our justice system.
Given the fog of war, especially the sort of war unfolding in Iraq, it is imperative that great leeway be given to our soldiers to act in their own defense. Decisions made in the heat of battle should not be "second guessed" by bureaucrats.
We ask that Captain Shawn Martin's conviction be reversed, or failing that, the appropriate military or civilian authority grant clemency.
