Teachers from Poarevačka gimnazija (Grammar School Poarevac) are fighting for their votes. According to Serbian laws, school principal is elected by local government, but at first teachers must be asked for their opinion. Teachers from Poarevačka gimnazija supported Danijela ukovski, mathematics teacher 60 teachers voted and 57 voted for Danijela. Other candidate, Anderjana Milić won 0 votes. After this procedure local government elected Andrejana Milić, candidate without any votes. Teachers tried to warn Ministry of Education of Serbia about the non-democratic procedure. During election there were many irregularities and the law was broken. People from Ministry didnt care. Teachers have started to strike and have organized meetings. They are supported by a teachers union. Now 48 people are on strike. Ministry of Education threatens to fire teachers in strike or to revoke license for Poarevačka gimnazija. Poarevačka gimnazija is one of the best schools in Serbia, famous for innovations in education, chorus Lazarice, it is a unique place in Serbia where World Philosophy Day is celebrated and philosophy for children is practiced.
