In February 2010 members of the New Zealand Parkour Association (NZPA) met with members of the Wellington City Council to discuss the future prospects of Parkour in Wellington. Overall the meeting was positive. One outcome was later reviewing the situation and putting forward a proposal to the council to decide whether they could commit funds for the 2011/12 Annual Plan deliberations to build a Parkour park.
Our next step is to develop the NZPA, gain awareness and gain support for our cause. Parkour is rapidly growing popular in Wellington and classes held by the NZPA are extremely successful. The NZPA also work in local schools, helping them to understand Parkour and how they can use the discipline to increase the quality of their life.
Having a Parkour park in Wellington would allow the NZPA to teach Parkour to the local community in a specifically designed and built environment. This would ultimately provide a safer and more comfortable environment for NZPA students to learn in.
Please show your support for the development of a Parkour park in Wellington by simply signing our petition. We intend to pass this petition forward to the Wellington City Council along with a proposal developed by the NZPA and Playground Centre.
