Tail Lights for Safety

In the 1980’s the campaign was Light’s on for Life which was to bring into effect what we know of today as daytime running lights. Mandatory legislation was put into place in Canada 1989. Since that time, we have become used to jumping in our vehicles and not worrying about turning our lights on… Hey, they turn on when I start my car. Daytime running lights have now evolved to Automatic Lights – a sensor determines when the vehicle daytime lights should turn to head lights thus activating tail lights as well. The only issue with this is on rainy and or foggy days, people just use their daytime running lights and forget that this means the back of their vehicle is not lit up for drivers behind them to see.
I have created this petition to generate support in changing the legal definition of Daytime Running Lights in Canada to include Tail Lights. Lighting up all four corners of the vehicle will help in reduced visibility driving; therefore may aid in preventing accidents in poor conditions.
