Hi to everybody reading this.
Here in South Africa, we have a telecommunications company called Telkom (which is only going to get competition next after being a monopoly for 5 years) who is the most pathetic provider in history i might add (with some satisfaction in saying it). Their ADSL 512k/256k service is R680 (about $104) and Telkom ISP charges which is cheapest R219 (about $33) totals to R899 ($137). Installation and modem prices are very high as well (Im not even going to mention it). To top it all up, they have also included a 3GB, yes 3GB cap on international traffic which is nothing for power users. ADSL is meant for them. Once the cap is reached, if you're lucky, you will get 0.1k. Did I mention international traffic shaping as well, which does not allow users to get very high speeds on peer-to-peer applications such as Kazaa, Fasttrack etc even when not capped!! Oh, and international pings are also worse than ISDN, which is slower than DSL. A telecoms provider certainly cant sink to a lower level, but hey, they're Telkom and they are capable of doing it...
Well, thats it I guess, please take a minute to sign this petition and hope that we can atleast make a difference in this country, which is not going to happen with a few hundred signatures. A few thousand is more likely to have them rolling around

Having just come back from living in Europe where in the UK they are on adsl2+ 24meg at R500 a month I think its disgusting that Telkom continue their tyrant pursuits. Above and beyond that, I couldn't even set up a wireless network for the region I stay

Telkom rips us off big time!! my dial up has been dodgy for the last month i've tried new modems formatting and after 2 3 hours i get disconnected then i phone telkom support and complain and they say its my equipment i have! the next day telkom calls and
