Why is it that Walt Disney Pictures wastes millions and millions of money creating senseless and unimaginative films when they could be making a real profit with the masterpieces they have created in the past? I'm not talking about films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Cinderella, I'm talking about their lost masterpieces, the ones simply get forgotten and Disney leaves to rot, films such as The Black Cauldron, The Sword in the Stone or The Aristocats, but then again, this petition isn't about any of those films, either. This petition is an effort to bring Walt Disney Pictures to once and for all, bring out their 1977 Classic Masterpiece, The Rescuers.
It makes sense doesn't it? The way to make the profit is with quality products and perhaps The Rescuers hasn't made as much money as say, The Lion King, but it hasn't been placed in front of everyone's face the way that film has and it hasn't received half as much publicity. As a matter of fact, if I hadn't searched for the film on Amazon, I wouldn't even have known the film has been released on DVD, Disney released it without letting anyone know about it, which made me real upset. So maybe The Rescuers has less fans than "Beauty and the Beast", but we're still fans and we were insulted.
All we want is for "The Rescuers" to get the digital make-over it deserves, we're sick of hearing it get poor reviews just because the picture quality in every release is horrible. The film has got potential and it's time for it to come into the light. If films such as "101 Dalmatians", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" or "Atlantis - The Lost Empire" get royal treatments, then The Rescuers is far more deserving because that's a real classic that shouldn't be abandoned!
