Thorpe Park signature ride

Thorpe Park has become a well-established theme park since opening in 1979.

It has continued to grow and change to give an ever increasing thrill installing new rides to cater for the ever demanding public.

This year, 2004, has been the parks 25-year anniversary of opening. The park released a Medium Term Development Plan, MTDP, which set out guidelines of what the park planned for the park in the coming years.

Amongst the various plans and ideas was a roller coaster, which would become a signature ride at the park. The ride would reach a maximum height of 65 metres.

The ride would be a one off and none of the other rides would exceed the maximum height of any current attractions.

Thorpe Park has carefully thought out the effects of the ride on the environment including noise pollution and other aspects. All of this was carefully documented in the plans.

Also the visual impact of the ride on the surroundings would be minimal due to the structure of the proposed ride and would include only one point in which the ride climbs to the height of 65 metres before heading down again.

We think that the ride would be very beneficial to the parks future and also the surrounding area bringing jobs, more tourism and more.
