With Joel Zumaya out until mid-2008, the Tigers need to bring in a proven, all-star caliber closer to cover the gap.
The Red Sox would more than likely be willing to deal Gagne away with their glut of bullpen talent.
The Tigers should therefore find a way to put a deal together to bring Eric Gagne in for the 2008 Season.
