TUC: Name the day for a General Strike!

We the undersigned believe the Con-Dem government’s austerity drive is wrecking the economy and destroying jobs and services. These attacks are intensifying.   We welcome the TUC’s ‘March for a future that works’ demonstrations in London, Glasgow and Belfast on 20 October and pledge to build them as widely as possible.   We also welcome decision of the TUC Congress to support a motion in favour of a general strike against austerity.   We call on the TUC to name the day as soon after the 20 October demos as possible.   We call on the TUC to release resources to regional TUCs and trades councils to build rallies and public bmeetings in major cities and towns to cement support for a general strike and national/regional demonstrations to coincide with it.
