As residents of Florida, members of the running community, and other interested parties, we are troubled by the fact that the University of Central Florida has decided to drop its mens cross country program. We believe that the university should reconsider this decision.
In order to be the high level, well-respected division one school that UCF desires to be it should be supporting and growing its varsity sports rather than cutting them.
Cross country and track & field are one of the highest participation sports in high school athletics. For a school wanting to be looked at as on par with the likes of Florida State and the University of Florida, we feel that is essential to have these offerings to our young men.
Please reconsider.

This a sad, sad state of affairs when a great sport like cross-country must be cut. As a high school rising senior, I know this takes UCF off of my list.
