I have been a user on the Neopets website for over 8 months. My name on there was flirtybutt311. On Friday, January 9, 2004, I received a disturbing message regarding my account being frozen because I had supposeably downloaded a program to cheat on Neopets. I immediately responded to this outrageous claim by completing the form Neopets offers.
I understand mistakes happen, and this is certainly one of them. I am a professional working mother. I have NEVER downloaded any type of program to use on Neopets to commit fraud, nor have I ever done anything that was against the Neopets rules that would condone the freezing of my account. I worked hard to obtain the items and neopoints I have earned. My entire family and many, many friends and co-workers are on Neopets as well, and they are very shocked that this has happened to my account with no proof of any wrongdoing provided whatsoever. The reason being is there is no proof. After much research on the internet, I am finding that I am not alone. This has happened to many, many good honest people for no reason whatsoever.
I even took a step further and made a call to Neopets in California. One of the staff explained that since they receive over 10,000 neomails per day, this could take over a month before I get a response. And that's IF I get a response. According to this person, my account is most likely never going to be unfrozen "just because". That is totally unacceptable. To be unfairly frozen for something that was never done is inexcusable.
On another note, for the past week or so, I have sent neomails to the Neopets staff regarding a glitch in their software system that has been arbitrarily taking items randomly upon using "quick stock". Expensive items. At times when trying to use "quick stock", an error message would appear saying "Could not place item without line insert". When this message appeared, the item simply vanished. It didn't get put into the shop, nor my inventory, nor my deposit box. More than 5 times I notified neopets staff regarding this over a month's time. No email responses were ever recieved. The last time it happened, expensive petpets were lost.
Once more, I sent yet another email explaining the situation, and pointed out that from a professional standpoint, a courtesy email letting me know the status was not too much to ask. Was the freezing of my account Neopets way of letting me know what they thought about that neomail to them?
I have respectfully requested to Neopets that my account be unfrozen and put back to it's original status. There has been no response. My next step is to send a letter to the Chairman of Neopets, Doug Dohring at their Glendale, California headquarters.
We have purchased numerous Neopets items from retailers and online, as have our friends and families. We all thoroughly enjoy Neopets. Hopefully, Neopets will do what's right and not damage this relationship by unfairly freezing an account that should never have been frozen to begin with.
It may seem silly to some for an adult to be carrying on and being upset about an account on Neopets, but frankly, that isn't the point. It's the principle of the matter, and the fact that my account was unfairly frozen. I have always taught my children to fight for what you believe in, and if you see something that's wrong, speak up. Well, that's exactly what I'm doing.
I look forward to the reactivication of my account and look forward to hearing from Neopets, Inc. regarding this. And I hope you'll sign this petition so that Neopets can see the wrong they have committed.
