This petition opposes the totally undemocratic and blatantly arrogant manner in which the Waimakariri District Council made its decision to change from Land (LV) to Capital (CV) based rating.
An overwhelming number of submissions (74%) were clearly opposed to this change and this was completely ignored thus making a mockery of the consultation process.
We request the Council to reverse this unpopular decision (which otherwise will require 59.8% of ratepayers to shoulder an increased share of the rates burden) pending investigation into a fairer and more equitable rating system.
