Why is the D65 School Board disregarding its own policy?

As concerned parents of students at Dewey School, we have watched with increasing alarm as our principal, Andy Krugly, has come under public attack on two separate occasions at District 65 school board meetings. While we believe a formal grievance process should exist within District 65, we do not believe the airing of personal grievances should occur in a public forum. In fact, we are aware that board policy 1.26 specifically prohibits this:

"Members of the public may address the Board of Education on school-related issues, either formally or informally. The Board of Education shall not permit the voicing of grievances against any person."

Why has the board disregarded this policy? The accusations made against Andy Krugly have been inflammatory and, given the recent media coverage of the meetings, have undoubtedly damaged his reputation. This simply is not right.

We ask that at its next meeting the board issue a strong, public apology to Mr. Krugly for so blatantly ignoring its own policy in allowing these damaging attacks to occur.
