We, the undersigned, declare that the Swedish pop group ABBA should be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame as soon as possible. ABBA is now eligible for induction as their first record was released more than 25 years ago. ABBA has legions of fans the world over, they have sold 360 million plus records, and their music continues to bring joy to people everywhere. The highly successful musical Mamma Mia!, which is playing in many countries and on Broadway, is based entirely on the songs of ABBA. Several years ago, The Bee Gees, another 1970s band whose music is not strictly rock music, were inducted in to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, and we believe that this honour should rightly be bestowed upon Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Faltskog, the four members of ABBA, while they are still living. ABBA remains the second largest selling pop group in history, after the Beatles. That should speak for itself. ABBA deserve to be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame for creating the soundtrack of the 1970s, and, more importantly, for producing pop music masterpieces which stand the test of time.
