Subject: Attack and insult of Jain Monks by Barwani Collector & District Magistrate
Dear Sir,
With lot of pain in our heart, we have to bring to your notice about the inhuman, uncivil & irresponsible act by one of the most supposedly responsible officer in the district.
The Collector and District Magistrate of Barwani district, Mr. Narendra Bahadur Rajput, not only hit the venerable Jain monk Acharya Vishuddh Sagar Maharaj and his disciples but he abused them and had his men manhandled the monks. Digambar Jain seer Acharya Vishuddh Sagar Maharaj and his disciples were hit by his car in Sonkachchha of district Dewas. The collector then made derogatory comments against the seer and Jain religion. The gunman and driver of the collector manhandled seer's disciples and also hit them with butt of the gun.

As you may know, that Jain monks are most peaceful, detached of everything and kind to all living beings in the world. They eat very little; have no possession of any kind. They do not use vehicle and travel by foot where ever they have to go. Their behavior is exemplary and can never cause hurt to anyone.
It seems that the Collector had ill intentions behind his barbaric behavior. He has caused so much hurt to lots of people in the state and world wide as news reach there. As a person, he not only seems ignorant of Indian culture in general but also devoid of any social etiquette. As a responsible officer, he showed a very bad example and has hurt feelings of thousands of people.
- He first hit the monks by his car. It must be intentional as you can judge from the abuses and derogatory comments against a religion
- He abused the monks and made derogatory comments
- He had his man manhandle monks and use butt of the gun
- He behaved very arrogantly as if he is law to himself
This is a very sad event that a collector & DM of a district behaved so low & irresponsibly. . It is scary to think that such a person is holding such a responsible job and to imagine what havoc he can create with his attitude.
On 7 May, local Jain community handed over memorandum to Sub Divisional Magistrate Manjusha Rai, addressed to your good selves, urging stringent action against the collector of Barwani district. In continuation of the same, we heartily request you to take stringent action against the responsible collector so that this kind of incidents does not happen in future.
