Affordable repair for Sony MDR-V700 Headphones

I am signing to express my unhappiness with Sony for not providing inexpensive repair for their MDR-V700 headphones.
MANY of us bought these headphones, only to have the cup/swivel joint crack after even careful use. As DJ hedphones, they should be able to withstand real stress, and not break at key points.
We would like Sony to provide the joint pieces individually (the parts marked "L" and "R" that join the cups to the headband) for a small fee, instead of charging $47.38 PLUS shipping and tax (nearly half the price of the headphones) for the entire headband assembly. We don't need the headband, and we don't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money to repair parts that likely cost a few cents to produce.
