Renewable energy has a place to play in energy generation but on-shore wind turbines particularly in the low-wind Midlands are an expensive, inefficient piece of environmental tokenism that harm communities, increase fuel poverty and destroy manufacturing jobs , without making a jot of difference to climate change.
We request Rugby Borough Council to reject Scottish and Southern Energy’s application to build a wind power station less than 1km to the North and West of Churchover, near Rugby, Warwickshire.
The proposed nine Industrial Turbines will be 5 times the height of the listed church spire in this conservation village. The most beautiful, iconic, arcadian scene of the meandering river valley below the village that has not changed for 1000 years, will be unacceptably dominated by the unpleasant overwhelming presence of rotating turbines. They will be within 430 metres of houses and we are fearful of noise and health hazards.
