Signatures to be presented to the Alfred, NY Town Board on May 13th, 2010.
In drafting a local wind law for the Town of Alfred, the Board researched over 1,500 pages of documentation from various studies and reports which indicated that a 1.5 to 2 mile distance is recommended as the setback for a wind turbine from a residence. In spite of this research, the Board's draft wind law prescribes only a .5 mile setback, which is inconsistent with their own research findings. In order to protect the health and quality of life of our neighbors and our families, we are requesting that the Board increase the setback to 1.5 to 2 miles.
