Ban BPA products in New York State

I recently read an article on msnbc.com* regarding the ban of BPA (bisphenol A) bottles in the city of Chicago. BPA is a chemical that is used to harden plastics and can be found in sports equipment, food containers, CDs, and reusable water bottles. It is extremely controversial, however, because it is thought that the chemical can affect hormones, causing reproduction problems for future adults. Nalgene bottles were the biggest target for anti-BPA campaigns.
Even though BPA hasnt been proven to cause immediate affects on those who use items that contain it, I fully support the cautious approach of removing the product altogether. Chicago is setting an excellent example for other cities by showing that they care about the safety of their children.

The goal of this petition is to encourage the state of New York (including New York City) to adopt the same policy as Chicago. Please sign this petition to show your support for both the environment and the people of New York State.
