We, the undersigned, want to have the safest and most enjoyable ACL experience possible. Like nearly everyone else, we enjoy getting close to the stage while our favorite musicians play -- but we keep finding the safety and enjoyment of the shows are jeopardized by immovable clusters of chairs. Close to the stage, rows or clusters of chairs make movement dangerous and create tensions in the crowd where there should be goodwill.
We do not feel that this use of chairs is in keeping with the spirit of the event, or with the intention of rules allowing chairs into the event. In fact, chairs are not supposed to be allowed close to the stage, yet none of us have ever seen that rule enforced effectively.
We ask that the organizers of the Austin City Limits Festival BAN CHAIRS from the festival grounds, or, at the very least, ENFORCE THE CHAIR RULE and remove all people with chairs close to the stages.
