Ban on Public Smoking in North Carolina

We, the people of the state of North Carolina, petition you, the legislators that represent us in this state to push legislation through that will ban the smoking of cigarettes, or any other form of tobacco use, from enclosed public places including, but not limited to: restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, etc.
We feel this legislation is necessary to protect the health and interests of citizens who choose not to smoke. We feel it neccessary to be able to enjoy enclosed public places without the worry of health risks rising from second hand smoke or the nuisance it causes to us in utilizing such enclosed public places.
We thank you for your time and hope you will utilize the powers given you by our votes in protecting us, your people, of the state of North Carolina.

I was not even aware of this petition. I think more people would have signed it had they known about it. It should not be any businesses "choice" to subject their employees to a toxic environment that has been proven to cause illness and kill.

I am a non smoker who is tired of coming home from a restaurant or bar smelling like an ash tray and having a sore throat. It is unfair to be subject to unhealthy breathing conditions due to other people's unhealthy choices.

I have asthma and sometimes I have to leave public places that allow smoking in order to breathe. If people want to smoke, that's fine, but they need to take other people's health into consideration.
